How to choose the right curling iron and temperature
How to choose the right curling iron and temperature
Curling iron selection and temperature control guide
1. Material and function selection
Coating material
Ceramic coating: Uniform heat conduction and moderate price, suitable for most hair types, reducing static electricity and frizz
Titanium metal: Fast heat conduction, long-lasting styling, especially suitable for coarse and hard hair, but the price is higher
Negative ion model: Releases negative ions to neutralize static electricity, improves frizz, recommended for damaged hair.
Additional functions
Constant temperature technology: Stable temperature to prevent overheating damage, recommended for normal and damaged hair
Automatic power off: High safety, suitable for forgetful or busy people
Steam hydration: Hydrates hair while styling, reducing high temperature damage (suitable for dry hair)
2. Diameter and hair length adaptation
Hair length/curl requirements Recommended diameter Effect characteristics
Long hair/natural big curls 32-40mm Soft arc, medium durability;
Medium-long hair/Horse curls 26-32mm Smooth lines, suitable for hard hair;
Short hair/wool curls 16-25mm Strong fluffy feeling, increase hair volume;
3. Temperature adjustment rules
Hair quality classification and regulation
Soft/damaged hair: 120-160℃, avoid breakage caused by high temperature;
Normal healthy hair: 160-180℃, balance styling and hair care;
Coarse and hard hair: 180-200℃, ensure long-lasting curls. Adjustment for special scenarios
Hair quality after dyeing and perming: It is recommended to use ≤140℃, and use hair care essential oil to reduce damage;
Cold perm setting: It can be temporarily increased to 200℃, but the single stay is ≤15 seconds.
IV. Operation precautions
Pretreatment protection
Use on dry hair, wet hair is prone to high temperature damage;
Apply anti-scalding spray or hair oil, and focus on protecting the hair ends.
Partitioning and techniques
Divide the hair into 3-5 layers, and operate layer by layer from the bottom layer upwards;
The width of a single hair piece is ≤2cm to avoid uneven entanglement.
Risk avoidance
Keep the curling iron ≥5cm away from the scalp to prevent burns;
Use ≤3 times a week to avoid frequent high temperatures that cause hair to be fragile.
