Which is more expensive, the touch screen or the display?
The touch screen is more expensive than the ordinary display.
The main advantage of a touch screen notebook over a traditional notebook is that its screen supports touch operation, which improves the user experience and operation speed of the notebook to a certain extent. However, the price of a touch screen notebook is relatively high, mainly because of the high cost of touch screen technology. The manufacturing cost of the touch screen includes the price of the display itself and the technical cost of the touch layer, which increases the overall price of the touch screen notebook. In addition, the battery standby time of a touch screen notebook may be shorter, because the touch function increases power consumption, thereby reducing the battery life. Although the touch screen has certain advantages in specific scenarios (such as reading, learning, watching TV series, etc.), its disadvantages include that the screen is easy to get dirty, leave fingerprints or scratches, and the touch operation may not be accurate and flexible enough compared to the mouse operation.
From the perspective of display technology and cost, the cost of OLED display is relatively high, mainly because OLED technology uses organic light-emitting materials, which are relatively expensive. In addition, aftermarket screen accessories for discontinued mobile phones are difficult to mass-produce because panel manufacturers do not have enough motivation and profit to produce these screens, resulting in insufficient supply and rising prices. Taking the iPhone X as an example, the cost of its display screen accounts for a considerable part of the cost of the entire machine, and the cost of OLED displays is more than double that of LCD displays. These factors together lead to relatively high prices for touch screens (especially high-quality touch screens).
