What is a touch screen device?

A touch screen is an electronic device that integrates touch and display functions. It can control and operate electronic devices through touch operations. This device gets rid of the traditional keyboard and mouse operation, allowing users to directly touch the icons or text on the computer display with their fingers or other objects, thereby realizing the directness and convenience of human-computer interaction. Touch screens are mainly used in public hall information query, leadership office, electronic games, song and food ordering, multimedia teaching, air ticket/train ticket pre-sale and other fields, greatly enriching the way and experience of human-computer interaction.

According to the type of sensor, touch screens are roughly divided into four types: infrared, resistive, surface acoustic wave and capacitive touch screens. Each type has its own unique principle and applicable scenario:

Infrared touch screen: A circuit board frame is installed in front of the display. The circuit board arranges infrared transmitting tubes and infrared receiving tubes on the four sides of the screen to form a horizontal and vertical cross infrared matrix. When the user touches the screen, the finger blocks the horizontal and vertical infrared rays passing through the position, thereby determining the position of the touch point on the screen.

Resistive touch screen: It is composed of two transparent metal conductive layers. When the user presses the screen, the two metal conductive layers come into contact, thereby detecting the touch position. The advantage of resistive touch screens is accurate positioning, but they are easy to scratch and are more expensive.

Surface acoustic wave touch screen: Using surface acoustic wave technology, a layer of special material is attached to the surface of the screen. When an object touches the screen, the sound waves change, thereby detecting the touch position. This screen is clear and not easy to damage, suitable for use in various occasions.

Capacitive touch screen: It works by becoming part of the circuit loop through the human body. When the user touches the screen, the capacitance value of the capacitive screen is changed, thereby detecting the touch position. Capacitive touch screens are responsive and support multi-touch, making them the main choice for modern smartphones and tablets.

The development of touch screens has not only changed the way people interact with computers, but also greatly enriched the user experience, making operations more intuitive and convenient. With the continuous advancement of technology, touch screens will be used in more fields, bringing more convenience to people's lives and work.
